A type of defect of vision is shown in the diagram. Write any two causes of this defect. How can the defect be remedied? Show with diagram.

Solution

From the figure, the defect of vision given is hypermetropia or long-sightedness.

Any two causes of this defect are:

  1. Thickening of eye ball due to irregular blood flow in it.
  2. Elongation of focal length of eye.

This defect can be remedied by use of convex lens with suitable focal length.

Draw ray diagrams each showing (i) myopic eye and (ii) hypermetropic eye.
