Solution

Any two differences between decomposition reaction and displacement reaction are:

Decomposition reactionDisplacement reaction.
  • In a decomposition reaction, a single compound breaks down into two or more simpler substances.
  • In a displacement reaction, one element replaces another in a compound, resulting in a new element and a new compound.
  • A decomposition reaction involves only one reactant that breaks down.
  • A displacement reaction involves two reactants: one element and one compound. (in single displacement, double displacement has two compounds as reactants)
  • An example of a decomposition reaction:

         \(\rm 2H_{2}O\) → \(\rm 2H_{2}\)+ \(\rm O_{2}\)

  • An example of displacement reaction(single):

       \(\rm Zn\)+\(\rm CuSO_{4}\) → \(\rm ZnSO_{4}\)+\(\rm Cu\)
