Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) remains open for five days a week, opening on Sundays and closing on Thursdays. In Nepal Standard Time (+5:45 GMT), the trading hours are open from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. In this blog, we will discuss the trading hours and sessions in NEPSE thoroughly.
NEPSE Trading Hours & Sessions: When can an investor place orders in NEPSE?
Between Sundays and Thursdays each week, NEPSE opens up for trading between 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM Nepal Standard Time. This four-hour window is further divided into three sessions as described below:
- Pre-Open Session: Open for 15 minutes until 11:15 AM, this session allows buyers and sellers to place their orders in the Trading Management System. However, the TMS does not execute any orders during this window. It is often useful to gauge the market depth and helps evaluate the opening price of each stock for the day.
- Regular Trading: Open for the entire window following the end of pre-open session, the regular trading session allows the actual exchange of shares between buyers and sellers. One can place multiple orders on both buying and selling sides and execute the orders as long as prices are met.
- Closing Session: At exactly 3:00 PM, the market closes for the day. No further orders or exchanges may take place after the clock hits 3 in the afternoon.
- However, it is important to note that NEPSE may remain closed on government-declared holidays. To remain updated with NEPSE holidays, visit NEPSE’s Holidays Listing page once every week.
